New Delhi: As a mark of 50 years completion of Indo- Pak war which led to creation of Bangladesh, PM Modi lit the ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ at National War memorial today. PM Modi was received by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Sing at the venue. Logo of ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ was unveiled by Union Defence Minister who said Indian army secured a historic victory over Pakistan which also resulted in largest Military surrender after World War II and led to creation of a new nation – Bangladesh.

The nation will witness celebrations of 50 years of win against Pakistan army, called as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ with various commemorative events planned across country as per Union Defence Minister. This include felicitation of veterans, Veer naaris, events like Band displays, seminars, exhibitions, equipments displays, film festivals, conclave and adventure activates.

It is well known that every year December 16th is celebrated in the name of Vijay Diwas as a mark of India’s victory against Pakistan in 1971. It is an historic day when the then Pakistan Army General Amir Abdullah khan NIazi surrendered along with 93,000 troops and accepted defeat. War which started on 03 December  1971 went on for 13 days and ended on 16th with Pakistan Army top officer NIazi signing the Instrument of Surrender, marking the end of the war.

Indian Army Chief Sam Manekshaw’s  message in that war still resounds in Indian ears which warned Pakistan saying” You Surrender or we wipe out”.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tributes to Indian Army for its sacrifices and said 1971 victory of India wrote a new story of bravery.
