Rajnath Singh today will take charge of the Ministry of Defense. Before this, Rajnath went to the National War Memorial at India Gate along with the President of the three armies and has a laid wreath and saluted the soldiers.
Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa and Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh were also present at the memorial.
The most important challenge to many new challenges in front of India's new defence minister Rajnath Singh is to accelerate the modernization of the three services. Another major challenge for them is to maintain peace on the borders with China.
Mr Singh takes over the Defence Ministry from Nirmala Sitharaman who has been allotted the Finance ministry in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new cabinet. During the first term of the Modi government, Mr Singh was in charge of the Home Ministry.
According to officials, Singh will take charge of the Ministry of Defense on Saturday.
