All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday said that Muslims of the country should not be scared of coming to power as the Constitution gives the right to every citizen religious freedom.

Addressing a gathering in the Mecca Masjid here, he said,'The law of India, the Constitution allows us to follow our religion.' He said, 'When the Prime Minister of India can go to the temple So we can go to the mosque with pride.'

Mr Owaisi was addressing the Youm ul Quran meeting at Macca Masjid on the occasion of Jummat-ul-Vida when he said that those who were disturbed over the recent incidents of killings and harassments should remember the history of Islam. 'Our community has sustained even the mightiest of battles. No one can terminate us,' he said.

Owaisi said, 'We are not mere tenants in India. We are equal stakeholders. We are not second-grade citizens. We are entitled to the same rights as our other fellow citizens, as guaranteed by the constitution of India. No one is authorised to seize our constitutional rights' he added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got a thumping mandate and won a total of 303 seats while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has 353 MPs in the recently elected 17th Lok Sabha.
