Congress President Rahul Gandhi won from Kerala's Wayanad seat in the 17th Lok Sabha election. He is likely to visit his constituency to thank the electorate at the end of this week or early next week.

According to a senior party leader, a programme of Rahul Gandhi has been finalized for his tour to Wayanad.

Gandhi is scheduled to visit all the seven Assembly constituencies of Wayanad to thank the people.

However, the programme will be prepared once he gives the dates to the party members.

Gandhi had contested on two seats in this election, one from Wayanad and the other from Amethi. He won in the former with a record margin of 4,31,770 votes defeating his rival PP Suneer of the Communist Party of India. However, he lost in the latter constituency to BJP's Smriti Irani by a margin of 55,000 votes.

Party general secretary K.C. Venugopal and other Kerala leaders on Monday handed over the certificate of victory from Wayanad on Monday at his residence.
