Baba Ramdev had advised taking stringent measures to reduce the population. He said that in the next 50 years India's population should not exceed 150 crores.
In the event that the population is more than that, the governments will not be able to provide them with basic facilities. He also said that the number of children should not more than two, it was also said to make laws and take strict action against the birth of the third child. Besides, the third child should not get the right to vote and also asked to include provision for banning him from contesting elections.
He also instructed the third child to be deprived of the benefits of government schemes.
AIMIM chief and Asaduddin Owaisi MP from Hyderabad expressed strong objection to Baba Ramdev 's statement regarding his view on population control in the country. Asaduddin Owaisi countered tweeting "There is no law preventing people from saying downright unconstitutional things, but why do Ramdev’s ideas receive undue attention?
That he can do a thing with his stomach or move about his legs shouldn’t mean @narendramodi lose his right to vote just because he’s the 3rd kid"
He further went on to say that, if such a thing is amended, then Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the third child and he will also have to lose his franchise.'
