India's off-spin bowler Harbhajan Singh on Friday defended his former cricketing partner and BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir, in the Lok Sabha elections who is contesting from East Delhi and has tweeted saying he can 'never talk vulgar against any woman'.

Gautam Gambhir was alleged that he has distributed derogatory papers in East Delhi addressing the Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Atishi.

Harbhajan defended his fellow Test cricketer via Twitter and said that he can not do such a thing.

Harbhajan tweeted  "I am shocked to note yesterday’s events involving @GautamGambhir. I know him well and he can never talk ill for any woman. Whether he wins or loses is another matter but the man is above all this."

Gambhir has rejected these allegations and has also sent notices of defamation to Atishi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and also Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

“I condemn what has happened. I am from a family where I have been taught to respect women. I didn’t know CM Arvind Kejriwal would stoop so low,” the cricketer-turned-politician said on Friday while speaking to news agency ANI.
