Film actor Sunny Deol joined in BJP today in the presence of Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Nirmala Sitharaman and other leaders at the party headquarters. It is believed that Sunny Deol could be given a ticket to Lok Sabha seat from Gurdaspur in Punjab. There were speculations that Sunny Deol could be included in the BJP for a long time.
Sunny Deol's father Dharmendra also contested from BJP. Hema Malini is a BJP MP and this time she is contesting from Mathura Lok Sabha seat. In this way, three members of the same family have officially joined the BJP.
After joining BJP, Sunny Deol said 'the way my father worked with and supported Atal Ji, I am here today to work with and support Modi Ji and my work will do the talking'.
Sunny Deol met BJP President Amit Shah last week for a brief time at the Pune airport. He said,'My father (Bollywood actor Dharmendra) was associated with Atalji, today I have come here to join under the leadership of Modiji.'
Earlier, Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat was represented by late Vinod Khanna.
