As the Elections have begun in the country, a few days ago, the Election Commission banned the release of the biopic Prime Minister Narendra Modi till the elections are going on. The Supreme Court today agreed to a plea challenging the Election Commission's ban on the release on the biopic on April 15. The petition has been filed by producers of the film.

While ordering to halt the release of the film, the Election Commission said that any film that serves the purpose of any political entity or individual should not be displayed in the electronic media.

However, earlier, the Supreme Court had disposed of the petition filed by a Congress activist seeking a stay on the release of the biopic while saying that the Election Commission was the right forum to decide the issue.

Back then, it had left the issue to the  Election Commission to take a call by saying that since the movie was not certified at that time by the Censor Board, it could not entertain the petition seeking a ban on the film.
