Polling has started in Telangana today for 17 Lok Sabha seats. In view of this, the state police issued a high alert. In addition to the Naxalite attack in Chhattisgarh, security has been increased in border areas.

 The police have made all kind of arrangements in the elections to conduct Lok Sabha elections peacefully and to maintain law and order in 33 districts of the state and have taken various measures in this regard. More than 50,000 personnel of police and central paramilitary personnel will be part of the security arrangement.

 Patrolling has been intensified as well as enhanced security in the areas affected by Left extremism. A senior police official said 'All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in the state." The additional director general of police (law and order) Jitendra said on Tuesday that the Maoists' appeal to boycott the elections for the last several decades has not received any support from the citizens and this has repeatedly proved during many elections.


In Dantewada of Chhattisgarh, the Naxals had blown the BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi's vehicle on Tuesday. In the incident, MLA and four policemen were killed in the incident.

In view of voting, the boundaries of various Lok Sabha seats of Telangana have been sealed. The police are keeping a close eye on the outsiders and the suspects. In addition, the Election Commission officials are taking stern action against any attempt to woo voters before voting.
