The Congress announced two candidates for the Lok Sabha elections on Monday, the main name being Kirti Azad, who has been nominated from Dhanbad of Jharkhand.

Currently, Kirti Azad, MP from Darbhanga Lok Sabha constituency of Bihar, had recently joined Congress. In the last election, he was elected on the BJP ticket.

Significantly, in the constituency parties of the Maha coalition, in Bihar, the seat of Darbhanga went into the RJD's account under the synergy of seats.

Kirti Azad is the son of Bhagwat Jha Azad, former Chief Minister of Bihar. Karti Azad, the cricketer-turned-politician, won the Darbhanga Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. On July 23, 2015, the BJP has suspended him for he has openly accused Union Minister Arun Jaitley of DDCA of alleged irregularities and corruption, after which the party had taken action against him and suspended him.
