Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) or JD(S) supremo H.D.Deve Gowda will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Tumakuru (Tumkur), the regional party announced on Saturday. He'll file the nomination papers on March 25.

Deve Gowda had won three elections in a row from Hassan and had earlier won from the same constituency in 1991 and 1998. He had lost from the constituency in 1999. 

The JD(S) won three of the eight Assembly segments in Tumkur in the 2018 state elections, while the BJP won four and the Congress got one seat.

The JD(S), as per its seat-sharing agreement with the Congress in the state, is contesting from eight Lok Sabha seats.BJP has fielded G S Basavaraj as its candidate from Tumkur.
