India's multilingual and versatile actor Prakash Raj filed a nomination form for contesting an independent candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the Bangalore Central Parliamentary constituency on Friday. Prakash Raj (53) is a well-known name in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. He is a resident of Bangalore.

After filing the form, Prakash Raj told the media, "National parties such as BJP and Congress have not fulfilled the expectations of the people. I want to be the voice of the people."

Prakash Raj tweeted "#bengalurucentral .... I Will be filing my CANDIDATURE as an INDEPENDENT tomorrow 22nd Friday .. please join me n empower #citizensvoice in parliament."

Raj will face BJP MP P.C. Mohan who also filed nomination from the Bangalore Central seat on Friday.

Congress has not announced its candidate's name for this constituency. Aam Aadmi Party has announced support for Prakash Raj.He has been vocal about his views on the current BJP-led government at the Centre.

The upcoming Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases starting April 11 and concluding on May 19, with the counting of votes taking place on May 23. In Karnataka, which holds 28 seats in the assembly, elections will be conducted in two phases.
