Kalraj Mishra BJP leader of Uttar Pradesh will not contest the Lok Sabha elections. Kalraj Mishra is the current BJP MP from Deoria.  While speaking to media on the decision of  upcoming Lok Sabha polls 2019, he said that 'I will not contest elections this time, I have been given a lot of other responsibilities by the party so my time will be devoted to that.'

 Kalraj Mishra is more than 75 years old, and due to this reason, he has taken this decision.  Kalraj Mishra held office in Modi's cabinet as Minister of Small Scale Industries. He had resigned from the minister's post, citing his age to be the reason.

In the Deoria Lok Sabha seat, the voting will be held on May 19. So far, the BJP has not announced the name of its candidate on this seat. This time BJP leaders are presenting their claims on Deoria's seat. These leaders include BJP state spokesman Shalabh Mani Tripathi and people like Devendra Pratap Singh.

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, Mishra won the Deoria constituency seat with 4,96,500 votes defeating BSP's Niyaj Ahmad by a margin of more than 2.65 lakh votes.
