Former joint director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) V. V. Lakshminarayana joined the Jana Sena Party (JSP), led by actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan, in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.VV Lakshminarayana is all set to contest from Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency in Andhra Pradesh. Lakshminarayana, who took voluntary retirement from the Indian Police Service (IPS) in April 2018  has named him as its candidate for the Vizag constituency.

Jana Sena Party President Pawan Kalyan has released a list of nine candidates for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. These candidates have been officially announced. The party announced the election of former Joint Director of Laxminarayan, as its candidate for the Vizag constituency.

Lakshminarayana was earlier part of the ongoing CBI investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets case against the YSR Congress Party (YSR) president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He had taken voluntary retirement from the Indian Police Service (IPS) last year. Even until weeks ago, it was widely speculated that he would join the TDP.
