The Supreme Court has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to respond to the bail plea of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad regarding the issue of fodder scam.

RJD Supremo has been imprisoned in Birsa Munda central jail of Ranchi since December 2017 in these three cases. Mr. Laloo Yadav referring to his old- age and declining health, he has requested bail from the Jharkhand High Court. RJD Supremo is suffering from diabetes, blood pressure and other complications were granted bail earlier in one of these cases. Lalu Yadav has been convicted in a criminal offense for two counts of Deoghar, Dumka, and Chaibasa. He got bail in one of two cases related to Chaibasa Treasury.  

A bench consisting of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Sanjiv Khanna gave this case to CBI. The petition was instructed to respond within two weeks. Laloo Yadav has challenged the decision of the Jharkhand High Court to refuse the bail him in these cases. Laloo Prasad told the court that after being wrongfully convicted in these three cases, he has been in jail for 22 months.
