Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's entry into the politics did not raise any eyebrows as it is something many politicians and politically aware populace were anticipating it from a very long time. On the contrary, people looked forward when will she be passing the communique on her entry into active politics. Now that she has joined and is serving currently as general secretary of the AICC in charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

She delivered her first political speech at a rally in Gujarat's capital Gandhinagar on Tuesday. Speaking to voters in Gandhinagar, Priyanka Gandhi pointed out that job opportunities for young people, women's safety and farmers welfare as election issues and as their main agenda will be delivered if Congress is voted to power at the centre. She readily pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government hadn't fulfilled any of its promises i.e to provide jobs to crores of people and went on to point out that the country's institutions are being destroyed. She even commented that there still is a lot of anger and hatred spread by Modi's government especially directed towards the minority communities. She said that 'there is no bigger patriotism than being a knowledgeable citizen' and that 'your awareness is a weapon and also your vote is a weapon.'She urged people to be aware and vote wisely.
