The Union home ministry has approved air travel for all personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces between Delhi and Srinagar, and Jammu and Srinagar on official duty, transfer or on leave.

The move has come after the horrifying suicide attack which killed at least 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. The convoy of 78 trucks was reportedly transporting around 2,500 CRPF personnel from Srinagar to Jammu.
The ministry has said that the move will be beneficial for approximately 7.8 lakh personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces in the ranks of constable and head constable who was earlier not eligible.
The CAPF includes the Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, CRPF, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal, and lastly, the National Security Guard.
The ministry also added that this move is in addition to the existing air courier services that have been expanded in all sectors to shorten the travel time of paramilitary personnel.
