Former Chief Secretary of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Rama Mohan Rao has joined in Pawan Kalyan''s Janasena Party. He was appointed as political advisor to Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan.
Mr. Rao even went on to say that Pawan Kalyan is “the hope of Andhra Pradesh” and has compared Mr. Pawan to Jayalalitha stating that “Jayalalithaa taught me that a politician’s heart should be with people. I think Pawan Kalyan is the same,”.He even added adding, “I will be with Pawan like how I served madam.”
Pawan Kalyan responded to Ramamohan Rao by saying that he is an efficient administrator who effectively ran the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIDMK) government without any hassle when Jayalalithaa was in the hospital."I will take his advice and suggestions for the people and create a golden future for the state of Andhra Pradesh," said the Jana Sena chief.
P. Rama Mohana Rao first shot into prominence when he was appointed Secretary to the Chief Minister Jayalalitha when she assumed office in 2011. He served as her Secretary till mid-2016.In June 2016, in a surprise move, he was appointed as Chief Secretary superseding some seniors and replacing K. Gnanadesikan (since suspended), when Jayalalithaa retained power.
Mr.Rao hails from Andhra Pradesh and belongs to the 1985 Tamil Nadu IAS batch. He began his career serving as Assistant Collector in 1987. He has held positions in various other departments including Agri Production, Housing and Urban Development, Industries, Backward Classes Welfare, and Khadi and Village Industries Board.
Currently, he also holds full additional charge of Vigilance Commissioner and Commissioner for Administrative Reforms.Mr. Rao, along with adviser to Government Sheela Balakrishnan, was reportedly calling the shots in the administration when then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was hospitalized.
