Sexism is quite prevalent in our society today and not even the politics is spared from it. Bollywood Actress-turned-politician, Hema Malini has been a victim of it too. The most recent victim has been Priyanka Gandhi, General Secretary of INC from East Uttar Pradesh. Kailash Vijayvargiya, the National general Sectary of BJP called out on Congress for their inefficiency and went a step ahead by calling Priyanka Gandhi a “chocolate face.”
Calling the remarks uncalled for, the Mathura MP (Hema Malini) said that many beautiful women have entered politics but that doesn’t give anyone a right to comment on their physical appearance.
Malini was targeted by Congress for her dance performance. She called it an unfortunate thing that her opponents couldn’t understand her achievements as a politician and artist separately. She added, “When I am invited for a dance performance it is because I am an artist, not a politician. Similarly, when I go for campaigning, I talk about the party’s and mine program and not dance on the stage.”
