Mumbai: In an official statement released by Reliance Industries Limited(RIL) company, they said it has no plans of entering corporate or contract farming in India and they have not purchased any agricultural land and further clarified that the company is committed to empowering farmers.
The RIL or any affiliate of it had never done corporate or contract farming in the past and have absolutely no plans in near future to do so and enter business. We shall insist our suppliers to strictly abide by the Minimum Support Price (MSP) mechanism, and/ or any other mechanism for a remunerative price for farm produce, as may be determined and implemented by the government, RIL statement reads.
In the past few weeks, nearly 1500 mobile towers owned by Jio have been vandalised by the farmers in Punjab who are protesting demanding to repeal three farm laws. RIL today filed a writ petition in HC which reads that malicious and motivated vilification campaign has been going on against the company which is baseless. It also asked HC to issue orders to protect its employees and property from vandalism. RIL felt that some vested interests and business rivals are behind the attack on their mobile towers.
Farmers are “ANNA DAATAS” and we have immense gratitude and respect towards them. We believe in building strong and equal partnership with Indian kisans on the basis of shared prosperity, RIL said.
