- To Join BJP in Amit Shah’s presence
- Jolt to Mamata before Assembly elections
- Was Nandigaram MLA , a very important minister
Kolkota: TMC leader who has an extraordinary hold on masses, Suvendu Adhikari, resigned as TMC MLA on Wednesday after a rift between him and Mamata had widened. According to reliable sources, Suvendu may join BJP on Saturday in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. As soon as Suvendu submitted his resignation to speaker urging him to accept it, both the Congress and the BJP started negotiations with him to join their party. But Suvendu is keen on moving to the BJP as he felt that it is the only party which can fight against Mamata by all means.
Suvendu’s father Sisir Adhikari at East Midnapore. It is a jolt to Mamata who is eyeing third consecutive term in assembly elections early next year. Will there be a dawn of a new era in Bengal politics? The answer is difficult to say right now but the scenario looks to be tough for Didi with exit of senior leaders such as Suvendu and Mihir Goswami.
These leaders can impact the result in more than 65 constituencies during the forthcoming assembly polls. TMC leaders felt that this will send a wrong message to cadre and urged party heads to take steps to prevent damage to the party. Suvendu, who was the transport minister, is a mass leader who knows the pulse of the people very well and is known for bringing 34 years of Left rule down with his Nandigram anti-land privatisation movement along with Mamata.
Mihir, a senior politician resigned from TMC and joined BJP. This will certainly impact TMC’s strength in North Bengal as per political analysts. Suvendu Adhikari is yet to decide whether to join the BJP or to float a new party. But any decision will adversely affect TMC in many constituencies and impact Didi’s efforts to retain power.
