New Delhi:  Visually challenged voters will be provided braille Voter slips in the coming general elections in line with the key National voter day theme 'accessible elections'. Barille voter slips will have a tactile reading system that blind voters will be able to read.

The usage of braille is not new and braille enabled slips were used in the recently concluded elections as well.  Electronic Voting Machines already have the braille feature and the ballot paper on the machine already has braille enabled.

Election Commission has asked all the Chief Electoral Officers to braille slips to the visually impaired voters. EC also has plans to issue the EPIC cards also braille enabled.

The theme of accessible elections is now covered for the blind. Assembly elections in Telangana had seen voters provided with Wheelchairs and transportation for voters who are physically challenged. This is a great move from Election Commission for inclusive elections.
